MIAC Release
COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Twenty-six Saint John's University student-athletes earned a total of 30 Winter and Spring Academic All-MIAC honors for the 2015-16 academic year on Tuesday, June 21.
For the second time in the last three years, SJU led the conference with 63 male Academic All-MIAC honorees in 2015-16, six ahead of second-place St. Thomas (57). The Johnnies finished second in 2014-15, one honoree behind UST (51), and led the league with 57 honorees in 2013-14.
Student-athletes must be a sophomore, junior or senior with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 on a 4.00 scale to qualify for Academic All-MIAC recognition. Athletically, student-athletes in baseball, basketball, hockey and tennis must compete in 50 percent of their team's varsity, regular-season contests. Pitchers must have five appearances or 20 innings pitched and hockey goaltenders must play in one-third (33.3 percent) of their team's total minutes played for the regular season.
To be eligible in swimming and diving, student-athletes must place in the top 16 individually or participate on a relay team at the conference meet. Track and field honorees must score in an individual event (top eight) or compete on a relay team at the MIAC Championships.
Golf honorees must compete in a minimum of 12 competitive rounds and/or participated in the MIAC Championship last October.
