Joe Vardas –Sprints, Jumps, Javelin
Joe Vardas is a 1994 graduate of St. Cloud State University where he also completed his Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology in 1997. Vardas excelled in the short sprints and especially in the triple jump as a collegian. His knowledge of biomechanics makes him an excellent technician and teacher. He is a USA Track and Field level II coach in the jumps and a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Vardas has coached eleven All-Americans in the long and triple jumps and javelin. The 2011 season will be Vardas’ 13th with the Saint John’s track and field team.
Damien Dumonceaux—Throws
Damien was the 2005 MIAC indoor shot put champion and has been coaching the throws since he graduated from Saint John’s the same year. Dumonceaux also played on the 2003 National Champion football team and was an All-American defensive lineman for the Johnnies. Dumonceaux works as an admissions representative for Saint John’s in addition to serving as an assistant football coach for the Johnnies in the fall. Dumonceaux’s athletes set schools in the weight throw and hammer in 2010.
