Mike Possin
Assistant Coach
Possin (poe-seen) enters his second season as an assistant coach for the Johnnies this fall. Possin played two seasons for the Johnnies from 2000-02 and totaled 26 goals and 38 assists for 64 points in just 44 games. Possin was named an American Hockey Coaches’ Association (AHCA) first-team All-American and first-team All-MIAC in 2001-02. Prior to SJU, Possin was a member of the 2000 University of North Dakota national championship team. Possin played three years with the Twin Cities Vulcans of the USHL before attending UND. Following college, Possin played five years of professional hockey. Mike is a resident of St. Cloud.
Mike Wehmhoff
Assistant Coach
Wehmhoff (wemm-hoff) played four seasons as a defenseman for the Johnnies from 1995-99 and tallied 39 points (14g/25a) in 93 career games, and was a member of the 1997 team that won the MIAC and claimed third place in the NCAA Division III tournament. He and the Johnnies also won the 1996 MIAC title. Wehmhoff had a short stint in professional hockey with South Carolina of the ECHL. Wehmhoff served as an assistant for the St. Michael-Albertville High School boys’ hockey team and head coach of the junior varsity squad from 2000-02. Wehmhoff resides in Zimmerman with his wife Jessica, son Dominic and daughter Lainie.
Dennis Schueller
Volunteer Assistant Coach
Dennis Schueller is a graduate of Simley High School and Bemidji State University, where he participated in hockey, baseball and football. He was a member of four NAIA national championship hockey teams with the Beavers and is a member of both the Simley and BSU Halls of Fame. Schueller played for the St. Paul Parkers Hockey Club and won five national championships during his playing days. He is currently semi-retired and teaches driver’s education and coaches golf at Simley High School. Dennis taught in the Bemidji, White Bear Lake and Inver Grove Heights school districts. Schueller served as an assistant at Mariner and Hill-Murray high schools, and served as head coach at Simley, North St. Paul and Burnsville high schools. He followed his 25-year coaching career with four years as a regional scout for the Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League (NHL). Schueller currently resides in Inver Grove Heights, with his wife Nancy. They also have a daughter, Corrie, and two grandsons, Mason and Gavyn. Schueller currently serves his community as the vice chair of the Park and Recreational Commission.
Jamie Johnson
Junior Varsity Head Coach
A Brainerd native, Johnson enters his sixth season as the junior varsity head coach in 2008-09. Jamie is the third Johnson brother to be associated with the program as his two older twin brothers played for SJU in the mid-1990s. Jerr currently coaches high school hockey at St. Michael-Albertville High School, while Jason is an assistant coach with the St. Cloud State University women’s hockey program. Johnson currently resides in St. Cloud and has worked in the area for over 10 years.
