COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John’s scored a season-high six goals to defeat Saint Mary’s 6-0 on Saturday, Oct. 20 in Collegeville. SJU outshot the Cardinals 35-6 (12-1 on goal) in the game, including an 18-0 advantage in the first half alone.
Senior forward Justin Swierk (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) scored the first goal, his first of the season, at the 16:36 mark. The goal was assisted by senior midfielder Jerome D’Alessandro (Maple Grove, Minn./Osseo) and junior forward Brian Horst (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater Area).
The second goal came from junior midfielder Levi Lowell (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater Area) with an assist going to freshman forward A.J. Sollom (Roberts, Wis./River Falls).
Senior forward John Krebsbach (St. Cloud, Minn./Cathedral) added the first goal of the second half with assists going to Swierk and senior forward Levi Glines (Minneapolis, Minn./Coon Rapids). Freshman midfielder Nick Serreyn (East Bethel, Minn./Totino-Grace), Lowell and junior defender Chris Schultz (Coon Rapids, Minn.) brought the game to its final 6-0 score. Lowell assisted on Serreyn’s tally, while freshman defender Austin Neuburger (Freehold, N.J./Allentown) and Serreyn assisted on Lowell’s fourth goal of the season and second of the game. Glines earned his second assist of the game on the final goal by Schultz. Sophomore goalkeeper Sean Hasselstrom (Edina, Minn.), who made his second start of the season, made one save to record his first career victory and shutout in net.
The Johnnies (6-5-2, 4-3-1 MIAC) will travel to face Augsburg Wednesday, Oct. 24. The game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Edor Nelson Field in Minneapolis.
