COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Senior Dane Obermeyer’s first goal of the season at the 48:43 mark of the second period proved to be the game-winner as No. 15 Gustavus Adolphus defeated Saint John’s, 1-0 on Saturday, Sept. 22 in Collegeville. Sophomore Bret Vander Streek assisted on the scoring play for the Gusties (7-1-0, 3-0-0 MIAC).
Senior goalkeeper Trevor Brown made 11 saves to record his fifth shutout of the young season for GAC, while senior goalkeeper Matt Sundberg (Wayzata, Minn.) made six saves for SJU (2-2-2, 0-2-1 MIAC).
Gustavus held a 19-16 shot advantage on the Johnnies in the contest, but were outshot 11-7 on goal.
Saint John’s will return to action next Tuesday, Sept. 25 when it plays host to Bethel at Durenberger Field in Collegeville. The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
