SJU and Luther Battle to 0-0 Tie in 2007 Opener

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – The Saint John’s University soccer team opened its 2007 season with a hard-fought 0-0 tie against Luther College, Iowa, on Saturday, Sept. 1 in Collegeville.

Senior Matt Sundberg (Wayzata, Minn.) and sophomore Sean Hasselstrom (Edina, Minn.) combined on the eight-shot shutout for the Johnnies, who failed to score on 11 shots against Luther’s Leif Madsen.

SJU (0-0-1, 0-0 MIAC) will return to action tomorrow, Sept. 2 when it plays host to Nebraska Wesleyan. The game is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. at Durenberger Field in Collegeville. Luther will take on Concordia-Moorhead at 2:30 p.m.
