ORLANDO, Fla. – Saint John's tennis ended its spring-break trip with an 8-1 win over the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (N.Y.) on Friday, March 9, in Orlando.

SJU (8-1 overall) swept all three doubles matches and won five of the six singles bouts in straight sets. The Mariners' (1-4 overall) lone win was via the super-breaker at No. 2 singles: 6-3, 0-6 and 12-10.

The Johnnies were scheduled to return to conference play next Saturday, March 17, against nationally ranked Gustavus Adolphus, but the recent snowfall deflated the dome at Sta-Fit in Sartell. No makeup date has been set, though the match will likely be rescheduled outdoors for later this season at the Chang Tennis Complex in Collegeville.

SJU's next match is March 23 at Saint Mary's in Winona.
