COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John's University head football coach
Gary Fasching will be a speaker at the NFL's Super Bowl Experience from 4-5 p.m. this Sunday, Jan. 28, in the Minneapolis Convention Center.
Fasching and St. Thomas head coach Glenn Caruso will present about the Johnnie-Tommie football rivalry during the hour. Former Minnesota Viking and six-time Pro Bowler Matt Birk will serve as the moderator. A St. Paul native, Birk won a Super Bowl (XLVII) with the Baltimore Ravens in 2013.
The NFL Experience starts today and runs through Feb. 3. Tickets are $35 for adults and $25 for children 12 and under, and come with a designated entry time and date. Super Bowl 52 will be played Sunday, Feb. 4, at U.S. Bank Stadium.
A two-time MIAC Coach of the Year, Fasching completed his fifth season as head coach of the Johnnies in 2017. He directed SJU to its fourth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division III playoffs and ended the season with a 9-2 record (7-1 MIAC) in 2017. Fasching has a 46-11 record (.807), including a 33-7 mark in MIAC play, which are both program bests through the first five seasons.
SJU is 17-9 against UST in the 26 games with either Fasching as a player (1978, 1980-81) or coach (1996-current) in the program.
