SJU Track & Field Records 16 Top-Five Finishes at Own Invite

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John's track and field posted 16 top-five finishes to take second out of 14 teams at its own invitational on Saturday, April 8, at Clemens Stadium in Collegeville.

Division II Minnesota-Duluth took first with a total of 113 points, followed by SJU (103), Gustavus Adolphus (93) and Hamline (71).

Junior Mitch Peck (Alexandria, Minn.) won the 400-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 55.33 seconds, while freshman Gabe Lura (Victoria, Minn./Chanhassen) and Peck took third (16.35) and fourth (16.40), respectively, first and second among Division III competitors, in the 110-meter hurdles.

Senior Raymond Twumasi (Coon Rapids, Minn.) won the triple jump with a season-best distance of 14.13 meters and junior Colton Peterson (Cloquet, Minn./South Ridge) claimed third with a season-best mark of his own (13.06 meters). Junior Zach Brown (Ceylon, Minn./Fairmont) followed in fifth place (12.54 meters).

Senior Travis Spillum (Little Falls, Minn.) took second in the high jump (1.85 meters), first among collegiate competitors, and second in the long jump (6.40 meters), first among Division III jumpers. Peterson placed third (6.31 meters).

Freshman Jesse Audelo (Los Angeles, Calif./Cathedral) claimed second in the 200-meter dash (22.64), first among collegiate participants. Sophomore Luke Kelvington (Foley, Minn.) finished third in the 100-meter dash (11.78) and junior Adam Noack (Northfield, Minn.) followed in fifth (11.81).

Senior Maxwell Kuzara (Excelsior, Minn./Minnetonka) crossed the finish line third in the 5,000 meters (15:53.09), while senior Maxwell Olson (Warrensburg, Mo.) took fourth in the pole vault (4.10 meters), first among Division III participants.

Senior Peyton Thiry (Lester Prairie, Minn./Lester Prairie-Holy Trinity) placed fourth in the hammer throw with a toss of 48.80 meters.

Senior Will Zimmerman (Owatonna, Minn.) and senior Alex Charbonneau (New Richmond, Wis.) finished fifth in the 800 (1:58.66) and 1,500 meters (4:10.04), respectively.

The Johnnies travel to compete at the St. Thomas Twilight at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 13, at Hamline's Klas Field in St. Paul.
