ST. PAUL, Minn. – Saint John's track and field finished second out of 17 teams at the Macalester Twilight on a blustery Thursday, April 27, in St. Paul.
St. Thomas won the meet with a total of 146 points, followed by SJU (139.50), Wisconsin-Superior (68), St. Olaf (50) and Hamline (49). The Johnnies collected 18 top-five finishes on the night.
Junior
Mitch Peck (Alexandria, Minn.) won both the 110-meter hurdles (16.15), running into the wind, and the 400-meter hurdles (55.59). Senior
Anthony Smith (Newark, N.J./St. Benedict's Prep) took third (17.07) in the 110-meter hurdles and senior
Will Zimmerman (Owatonna, Minn.) claimed fourth in the 400-meter variety (58.51).

Raymond Twumasi (Coon Rapids, Minn.) and junior
Colton Peterson (Cloquet, Minn./South Ridge) claimed first (13.94 meters) and second (13.37 meters), respectively, in the triple jump. Freshman
Collin Trout (Cloquet, Minn.) followed in fifth (13.55 meters). Peterson also placed second in the long jump (6.33 meters), while Trout took fourth (6.12 meters).

Travis Spillum (Little Falls, Minn.) won the high jump (1.88 meters) and senior
Peyton Thiry (Lester Prairie, Minn./Lester Prairie-Holy Trinity) took first in the hammer throw (51.19 meters).

Ryan Kuester (Glencoe, Minn./Glencoe-Silver Lake) and sophomore
Drew Schoenbauer (New Prague, Minn.) went 1 (11.27)-2 (11.31) in the 100-meter dash, while sophomore
Ben Frederickson (Plymouth, Minn./Providence Academy) finished second in the 400-meter dash (51.38). Senior
Sam Friesen (Excelsior, Minn./Minnetonka) placed fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Jordan Theisen (Sauk Rapids, Minn./St. Cloud Apollo) placed second in the pole vault (4.65 meters) and senior
Maxwell Olson (Warrensburg, Mo.) followed in a tie for fourth (4.35 meters). Theisen also finished in a tie for fifth in the high jump (1.78 meters).
The Johnnies compete at the annual Meet of Saints, hosted by St. Olaf, at noon next Saturday, May 6, at Manitou Field in Northfield.
