ST. PAUL, Minn. – Members of the Saint John's track and field team competed at the St. Thomas Twilight on Thursday, April 13, at Hamline's Klas Field in St. Paul.

St. Thomas' outdoor track within O'Shaughnessy Stadium is out of commission this spring for competition, and due for a resurface this summer, so the track meet was moved to Hamline. The javelin throw was held at nearby Concordia-St. Paul. Team scores were not calculated.

Junior Mitch Peck (Alexandria, Minn.) led Division III participants with a second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles (54.98), while he and freshman Gabe Lura (Victoria, Minn./Chanhassen) took fourth (15.53) and sixth (15.90), respectively (first and third among Division III runners), in the 110-meter hurdles. Both times were personal records for Peck, whose 400-meter time is now good for 22nd nationally.

Senior Ryan Bugler (Okinawa, Japan/Kubasaki) led Division III with a fourth-place finish in the 1,500 meters (3:54.11), the seventh-fastest time in Division III this season, and classmate Brandon Franta (La Crescent, Minn.) finished fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:56.72).

Freshman Jesse Audelo (Los Angeles, Calif./Cathedral) placed fifth in the 200-meter dash (23.04) and seventh in the 100-meter dash (11.08), third among Division III sprinters.

Senior Travis Spillum (Little Falls, Minn.) took third in the high jump with a personal record of 1.90 meters and senior Raymond Twumasi (Coon Rapids, Minn.), the reigning MIAC Field Athlete of the Week, led Division III with a third-place mark of 14.10 meters (0.01 behind his season best/personal record) in the triple jump. Junior Colton Peterson (Cloquet, Minn./South Ridge) and freshman Collin Trout (Cloquet, Minn.) followed Twumasi in fifth (13.15 meters) and sixth (13.03 meters), respectively, in the triple jump.

The Johnnies' 4x400-meter relay (Ben Frederickson, Will Zimmerman, Louis Larson, Kevin Lamb) claimed third, second among Division III squads, with a time of 3:28.64.

The Johnnies travel northwest for the North Dakota State Classic at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 22, in Fargo, N.D.
