WHITEWATER, Wis. – Saint John's soccer dropped a 2-0, non-conference decision at Wisconsin-Whitewater on Sunday, Oct. 1.
Taylor Ortiz scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 21st minute for UWW (6-3-3 overall) and Joey Pumo made it a two-goal game 2:53 into the second half.
The Warhawks posted a 14-5-3 record and made their third consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division III playoffs last fall.
Sophomore
Nicholas French (Waterford, Wis.) made four saves in the loss for SJU (2-5-2 overall). He denied the Warhawks' Peter Raymonds, who entered the match with 10 goals and 23 points in 11 matches this season, on a penalty kick in the 78th minute.

Daniel Bruckbauer (Fargo, N.D./Shanley) and juniors
Zack Boerjan (Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge) and
Andrew Weiler (Rosemount, Minn.) led SJU with three shots apiece.
UWW out-shot the Johnnies 17-11, including a narrow 6-5 margin on goal.
The Johnnies return home to host Saint Mary's for a 4 p.m. match on Friday, Oct. 6, at Haws Field.
