State All-Stars Begin Week-Long Training Camp June 19 at SJU

MFCA Tackle Cancer All-Star Game

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Six incoming Saint John's University football student-athletes will participate at training camp June 19-24 at Clemens Stadium in preparation for the 43rd Annual Minnesota High School Tackle Cancer All-Star Football Game June 25, sponsored by the Minnesota Football Coaches Association (MFCA).

Albany linebacker/running back Will Kleinschmidt, Monticello offensive/defensive lineman Tyler Otto and Ottertail Central defensive back/wide receiver Andrew VanErp will play for the North team. Faribault Bethlehem Academy linebacker/running back Peyton Glenzinski, Goodhue defensive back/wide receiver Sam McNamara and Cretin-Derham Hall defensive back/wide receiver Christopher Perry will suit up for the South team.

The players report to Collegeville on Sunday, June 19. The first practices begin with the North squad at 6 p.m., followed by the South team at 7:30 p.m., in Clemens Stadium. The full, tentative schedule is listed below.

The North versus South All-Star game is at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 25, at St. Cloud State University's Husky Stadium.

The Faribault Daily News All-Area Football Player of the Year, Glenzinski started for the Cardinals on the offensive line as a sophomore and junior before moving to running back last fall, where he rushed for 1,994 yards and 31 touchdowns on 342 carries en route to the Class A state tournament. Defensively, Glenzinski collected 93 tackles (32 solo), including five for a loss, and snagged two interceptions last fall. He is the younger brother of Drew Glenzinski, a junior defensive lineman for SJU. – Highlight Video

Kleinschmidt rushed for 498 yards and five touchdowns on 100 carries and caught 11 passes for 162 yards last fall. Defensively, he registered 51 tackles for the Huskies, who reached the Class AAA state tournament. – Highlight Video

A three-year starter for the Wildcats, McNamara totaled 727 yards from scrimmage (255 rushing and 472 receiving) and 11 touchdowns as Goodhue advanced to the Class A semifinals last fall. He also accumulated 652 returns yards, including 412 yards and a touchdown on 14 kickoffs. McNamara ended his career with 76 career receptions for 1,192 yards and 16 touchdowns, as well as 123 tackles, three interceptions, six forced fumbles and two touchdowns on defense. – Highlight Video

An All-Conference selection and the offensive line Most Valuable Player of the league, Otto was a two-year starter for the Magic in the trenches (center on offense, defensive tackle on defense). – Highlight Video

Perry caught 28 passes for 451 yards and four touchdowns for the Raiders, who reached the second round of the Class AAAAAA playoffs, last fall. Defensively, Perry tallied three interceptions. – Highlight Video

A three-year starter and a two-time All-Conference selection, VanErp totaled 604 yards from scrimmage (312 rushing and 292 receiving) and seven touchdowns last fall. He also collected 32 tackles and two interceptions on the defensive side of the ball and was forced to play quarterback due to injury in the Bulldogs' final three games. VanErp finished 15 of 27 passing for 280 yards and two touchdowns in the three games as the team reached the Class AA semifinals. – Highlight Video

Another incoming Johnnie, St. Michael-Albertville linebacker Evan Ronsen, was named to the Associated Press' 2015 All-State second team. He registered 83 tackles, including 3.5 sacks, in 10 games for the Knights en route to the Class AAAAA state championship last fall. – Highlight Video

The six All-Stars and the rest of the SJU team report to Collegeville on Saturday, Aug. 13, with the first practice scheduled for the following day. The Johnnies open the 2016 season with a 1 p.m. kickoff Sept. 3 against the College of St. Scholastica in Clemens Stadium.
