NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Saint John's track and field won two events and posted 13 other top-eight marks/times at the Carleton Relays on Saturday, April 23, in Northfield.
Senior
Randy Perez (Murrieta, Calif./Vista Murrieta) improved his MIAC-leading mark by over a meter to win the javelin with a throw of 58.42 meters, while classmate
Cole Howard (Ridgefield, Wash./Skyview) placed seventh (48.84 meters). Perez's distance ties him for 18th in all of NCAA Division III.
Junior
Raymond Twumasi (Coon Rapids, Minn.) won the triple jump with a leap of 13.48 meters.
Freshman
Max Martin (Minneapolis, Minn./Wayzata) improved both of his season-best times to finish fourth in both the 110- (15.32) and 400-meter (56.56) hurdles. Sophomore
Mitchell Peck (Alexandria, Minn.) followed Martin closely, within 0.01 of a second, in the 400-meter hurdles to take fifth (56.57).
Freshman
Kai Barber (Minneapolis, Minn./Totino-Grace) placed third in the discus (43.22 meters) and fifth in the shot put (14.94 meters).
Junior
Peyton Thiry (Lester Prairie, Minn./Lester Prairie-Holy Trinity) finished fourth, third among collegiate throwers, in the hammer with a toss of 48.78 meters.
Sophomore
Drew Schoenbauer (New Prague, Minn.) and junior
Evan Clark (Phoenix, Ariz./Apollo) finished fifth (11.10) and seventh (11.20), respectively, in the 100-meter dash, while sophomore
Matthew Burgstahler (Sandpoint, Idaho) took seventh in the 1,500 meters (4:05.10).
Freshman
Kevin Lamb (Avon, Minn./Albany) claimed fifth in the 800 meters (1:59.30) and junior
Brandon Franta (La Crescent, Minn.) took seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:59.10).
The Johnnies' 4x100-meter relay finished second in 44 seconds flat.

Eight Johnnies competed at two different meets Friday evening. Junior
Ryan Bugler (Okinawa, Japan/Kubasaki) crossed the finish line in fourth place, third among collegiate runners, in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:23.26) at Wisconsin-La Crosse's Phil Esten Challenge. The time is the second-fastest in the MIAC this season. Senior
Thomas Feichtinger (Omaha, Neb./Mount Michael Benedictine) shaved 10 seconds off his season-best time to take 13th in the 1,500 meters (3:52.25) and
Sam Friesen (Excelsior, Minn./Minnetonka) took 24th in the 10,000 meters (33:06.55).
Thiry led a group of four throwers in the hammer at Division I North Dakota State's Lyle Hokanson Classic. He led Division III participants to claim 12th with a distance of 48.26 meters. Senior
