Johnnies Compete at Final Tune-Up Before MIAC Meet

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Saint John's won two events and recorded seven top-three finishes at the St. Olaf Qualifier on Friday night, Feb. 27. Team scores were not calculated.

Sophomore Ryan Kuester (Glencoe, Minn./Glencoe-Silver Lake) won the 60-meter dash (7.14) and classmate Maxwell Olson (Warrensburg, Mo.) took first in the pole vault (4.55 meters), the fourth-best mark in the MIAC this season.

Junior Thomas Feichtinger (Omaha, Neb./Mound Michael Benedictine) and sophomore Joe Koll (Winona, Minn./Cotter) finished second in the 3,000 meters (8:39.95) and long jump (6.46 meters), respectively. 

Sophomore Raymond Twumasi (Coon Rapids, Minn.) claimed second, first among Division III competitors, in the triple jump (13.43 meters). Twumasi's mark of 13.53 meters recorded last Saturday (Feb. 21) is still the top distance in the MIAC.

Sophomore Peyton Thiry (Lester Prairie, Minn./Lester Prairie-Holy Trinity) placed second in the 35-pound weight throw (14.89 meters) and senior Yasin Williams (East Orange, N.J./St. Benedict's Prep) took third in the 200-meter dash (22.99).

The Johnnies visit Concordia-Moorhead for the 2015 MIAC Indoor Championships next Friday and Saturday, March 6-7.
