COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John's won 10 of the 14 events in a triangular with its alumni and Macalester on Saturday, Feb. 15, in Collegeville. Team scores were not calculated.
Freshman Joe Koll (Winona, Minn./Cotter) won the 60-meter dash (7.30) and long jump (6.35 meters), while classmate Raymond Twumasi (Coon Rapids, Minn.) took first in the triple jump (13.15 meters). Travis Spillum (Little Falls, Minn.) recorded the fourth freshman win in the high jump (1.82 meters).
Junior Nick Thies (Green Isle, Minn./Sibley East) won a pair of events, the 60-meter hurdles (8.71) and pole vault (4.11 meters), and seniors Matt Scherber (Royalton, Minn./Sartell-St. Stephen) and John Subialka (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) went 1 (8:53.39)-2 (8:53.42) in the 3,000 meters.
Junior Yasin Williams (East Orange, N.J./St. Benedict's Prep) crossed the finish line first in the 200 meters (22.75) and sophomore Nick Zurn (Belle Plaine, Minn.) did the same in the 400 meters (52.27).
Sophomore Thomas Feichtinger (Omaha, Neb./Mount Michael Benedictine) made his first track appearance of 2014 and won the mile run with a time of 4:24.91).
The Johnnies host Concordia-Moorhead, Gustavus Adolphus and Hamline for an 11:30 a.m. quadrangular next Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Donald McNeely Spectrum.
