SJU Wrestling Tallies 30-14 Road Win at St. Olaf

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – No. 21 Saint John's wrestling took advantage of three forfeits in a 30-14 win at St. Olaf on Friday, Feb. 14, in Northfield.

Both teams tallied three wins and forfeited the match at 125 pounds.

St. Olaf (2-5 dual record) started the dual at 149 pounds with a pin before the Johnnies (9-10 dual record) tied it with a pair of decisions from freshman Branden Schorr (Mantorville, Minn./Kasson-Mantorville) and senior Brandon Seppelt (Foley, Minn.) at 157 (8-5) and 165 (11-6), respectively.

James Roach, ranked as high as second nationally by the National Wrestling Coaches' Association (NWCA), gave the Oles their last lead of the dual with a technical fall at 174 pounds.

SJU earned a forfeit at 184 pounds and sophomore Josh Willaert (Le Sueur, Minn./Le Sueur-Henderson) bumped up to 197 and earned a pin in 1:59.

Zach Gibson, ranked sixth by D3wrestle.com, registered a 7-4 win over senior John Scepaniak (Avon, Minn./Holdingford) at heavyweight. SJU ended the dual with a pair of forfeits (133 and 141 pounds) following the double forfeit at 125.

The Johnnies return home for their final dual of the 2013-14 season, a 1 p.m. bout with No. 7 Augsburg on Sunday, Feb. 16, in Sexton Arena.
