COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John's junior Dennis Granath (Bandhagen, Sweden/Farsta Gymnasium) was named to the PING All-America third team on Thursday, May 24.

The 2011-12 MIAC Player of the Year and a 2011 PING All-America first-team selection, Granath led the MIAC with a 74.5 stroke average in 21 rounds in 2011-12. He tallied seven top-10 finishes, of which five were in the top five. Granath earned All-MIAC honors (top 10, including ties) for the second consecutive season by tying for seventh at the 2011 MIAC Championship last fall. Granath enters his senior season in September with a 74.4 scoring average in 61 career rounds.

The Johnnies have now had at least one All-American each of the past six seasons (a total of 12 during that span).

SJU missed the NCAA Division III Championship for the first time since 1999 in 2011-12. The Johnnies finished no lower than eighth with two national titles in each of the past five seasons, including a third-place finish last year. SJU led the MIAC with a 298.6 stroke average in 21 rounds in 2011-12. The Johnnies fell four spots from No. 12 in the latest national poll released May 16, though the Johnnies edged NCAA at-large entrants Huntingdon (Ala., No. 17), Christopher Newport (Va., No. 18) and Gustavus Adolphus (No. 19).
