2011 BSN All-America Teams
COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John's University junior cornerback Bobby Fischer (Plymouth, Minn./Osseo) was one of two Beyond Sports College Network (BSN) All-America first-team selections released Thursday, Jan. 5.
Eighty-eight SJU football student-athletes have now earned All-America honors a total of 114 times (85 student-athletes for a total of 111 honors in 59 seasons under the direction of head coach John Gagliardi).
A first-team All-MIAC and D3football.com All-West Region second-team selection, Fischer ended the regular season as the MIAC's leader in interceptions (7), interception return yards (243) and passes defended (17). His seven interceptions are the most by a Johnnie since 2002 (10 each by Jeremy Goltz and Jason Pflipsen). Fischer also posted 35 tackles (19 solo) on the year.
The Johnnies ended the 2011 season with a 5-3 record in the MIAC and a 6-4 overall record. Gagliardi concluded his 63rd season as a collegiate coach with a 484-133-11 (.779) career record, including a 460-127-10 (.779) record in 59 seasons at SJU.
