USTFCCCA Release
COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John’s University was named one of the 2010 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Men’s Division III All-Academic Track and Field Teams Wednesday, August 4.
The Johnnies combined for a 3.24 team GPA to finish third in the MIAC behind Carleton (3.35 GPA) and Macalester (3.32 GPA).
A total of 68 Division III men’s track and field programs were recognized as 2010 USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Teams. Kenyon (Ohio) recorded the highest overall team GPA with a 3.50, followed by Pomona-Pitzer (Calif.), which carried a 3.46 team GPA.
The MIAC landed the highest number of member schools on the list, with six schools from each conference attaining All-Academic Track & Field recognition.
The selection of the All-Academic Indoor and Outdoor Scholar Teams of the Year award is based on a combination of academic and athletic achievements, with the top honor going to the team that had the combination of best overall finish at the respective Division III Indoor or Outdoor National Championships and cumulative GPA.
To be nominated, the team must carry a minimum 3.10 cumulative grade-point average.
Saint John’s finished sixth at the 2010 MIAC Outdoor Championships. Despite their provisionally-qualifying marks, none of the Johnnies advanced to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships.
