Harren, Lesmeister Earn Academic All-MIAC Honors

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. - Two Saint John's University hockey student-athletes earned 2009-10 Winter and Spring Academic All-MIAC honors on Tuesday July 6: senior forward Gabriel Harren (Warroad, Minn.) and sophomore defenseman Jeff Lesmeister (Anoka, Minn.).

Student-athletes must be a sophomore, junior or senior academically with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 on a 4.00 scale to qualify for Academic All-MIAC recognition. Athletically, hockey student-athletes must compete in 50 percent of their team's varsity regular season contests.

A three-time honoree, Harren played all 25 games for the Johnnies, tallying seven goals and 11 assists.  He is a philosophy major with a 3.81 GPA.

Lesmeister played in 21 games for SJU, recording one goal and one assist.  He is a communication and psychology double-major with a 3.67 GPA.

SJU ended the 2009-10 season with a 9-12-4 overall record and a 5-9-2 record in the MIAC.
