The Saint John's University tennis team (8-9, 3-6 MIAC) ends its 2010 season by hosting St. Cloud State for a 3 p.m. match this afternoon at the Saint John's Tennis Courts in Collegeville.

A LOOK AT THE JOHNNIES: Senior Dutch Hansen (Dawson, Minn./Dawson-Boyd) recorded back-to-back wins via tie-breaker at No. 2 singles as the host Johnnies edged Concordia-Moorhead 5-4 on April 21 in Collegeville. Hansen won both sets 7-6 with victories of 7-2 and 7-4 in the tie-breakers. He and fellow senior Luke Odegaard (Forest Lake, Minn.) teamed up to earn an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles. Odegaard earned a singles win of his own at No. 4, 7-5 and 7-5. Sophomore Ian Hansen (Dawson, Minn./Dawson-Boyd) earned the Johnnies' other singles win at No. 3, 6-2 and 6-3.  The tandem of junior Elliott Elm (Eagan, Minn./Holy Angels) and freshman Zach Shriwise (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley West) improved their record to 8-5 (5-3 MIAC) with an 8-4 decision at No. 3 doubles.

THE LAST MEETING: St. Cloud State ended the Johnnies' five-match winning streak with a 6-3 decision earlier this season on March 28. Freshman Fabricio Moncada (Managua, Nicaragua/Lincoln International Academy) improved his record to 5-1 at No. 1 singles with a 6-4, 6-3 decision. Sophomore Justin LaBeaux (Sartell, Minn./Sartell-St. Stephen) tallied the Johnnies' other singles win, 6-0 and 6-4, at No. 6. Elm and Shriwise earned the third and final win for SJU at No. 3 doubles, 8-6. Elm and Odegaard dropped close singles matches in three sets at Nos. 4 and 5, respectively.
