NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Saint John’s cruised to victories at Nos. 1 and 2 singles, but only managed to pick up another match victory in a 6-3 loss at St. Olaf on Friday, April 16, in Northfield.

Freshman Fabricio Moncada (Managua, Nicaragua/Lincoln International Academy) and senior Dutch Hansen (Dawson, Minn./Dawson-Boyd) earned straight-set 6-1 victories at Nos. 1 and 2 singles, respectively.

Sophomore John Burns (Maple Grove, Minn./Osseo) tallied the Johnnies’ other victory at No. 6 singles (6-2, 6-4).

Junior Elliott Elm (Eagan, Minn./Holy Angels) lost a close decision at No. 4 singles, in which both sets went to a tie-breaker. Elm and freshman Zach Shriwise (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley West) then lost a tough 9-7 decision at No. 3 doubles.

The Johnnies (6-9, 1-6 MIAC) return home to host Hamline on Saturday, April 17. The match is scheduled for noon at the Saint John’s Tennis Courts in Collegeville.
