Johnnie Wrestling Stays at No. 9, Four Individuals Ranked

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. - The Saint John's University wrestling team stayed at No. 9 in the latest Brute-Adidas/National Wrestling Coaches' Association (NWCA) Division III team rankings released Tuesday, Feb. 9.

Other teams ranked from the NCAA Great Lakes Region include Augsburg (No. 1), Concordia-Moorhead (No. 7), North Central (Ill.; No. 10) and Elmhurst (Ill.; No. 18).

In addition to the team rankings, four Johnnies were ranked individually: junior Minga Batsukh (Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia/St. Benedict's Prep, N.J.), No. 2 at 141 pounds (9-2 record); sophomore Matt Pfarr (Le Sueur, Minn./Le Sueur-Henderson), No. 5 at 174 pounds (11-5 record); senior Mogi Baatar (Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia/St. Benedict's Prep, N.J.), No. 6 at 133 pounds (17-7 record); and junior Matt Baarson (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Champlin Park), No. 6 at 165 pounds (20-2).

Batsukh finished second at the Wis.-Eau Claire Invitational last Saturday, Feb. 6. Batsukh cruised thru the first three rounds with two technical falls and a pin before defeating Augsburg's Cody Hansen 5-4 in the semifinals. He injury defaulted to the Auggies' Jafari Vanier in the championship match. Baarson, Baatar and Pfarr did not compete.

The Johnnies return to action this Thursday, Feb. 11, at No. 9 (NCAA Division II) St. Cloud State. The dual is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Halenbeck Hall in St. Cloud.
