The SJU Nordic ski team returns to action this Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 30-31, at the NCAA Qualifier No. 3. The races will be held at the Telemark Lodge outside Cable, Wis.

A LOOK AT THE JOHNNIES: Sophomore Bob Gerten (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./St. Thomas Academy) and junior Jared Sundstrom (Proctor, Minn.) led the Johnnies at the Mayor's Challenge SuperTour last weekend. Gerten finished 35th out of 191 individuals in Saturday's 10k freestyle, while Sundstrom finished 45th in Sunday's 15k classic. Senior Trevor Drake (Eden Prairie, Minn.) stayed the most consistent throughout the weekend, finishing 62nd in the freestyle and 59th in the classic.

LAST YEAR'S MEET: Sophomore Grant Cook (Duluth, Minn./East) led the Johnnies for the second consecutive weekend with a 30th-place finish (34:08) and a 27th-place finish (36:24) in the in the 10k classic and 15k freestyle races, respectively. Gerten took 41st (35:34) in Saturday's classic race and 44th (38:34) in Sunday's freestyle race.
