Daly Named to Academic All-America Third Team

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. - Saint John's University graduate Joe Daly '09 was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America men's at-large third team June 9.
A member of the two-time national champion SJU golf team, Daly was a third-team All-American in 2008, as well as a two-time GCAA All-District selection. The Owatonna, Minn., native was medalist at the MIAC Meet his freshman year, winning MIAC Freshman of the Year honors, and was fifth overall this fall. Daly was named the 2009 College Sporting News Male Student-Athlete of the Year for the MIAC.
An accounting major with a 3.76 GPA, Daly is a three-time Academic All-MIAC honoree and a two-time All-American Scholar. He is a Regent Scholar, SJU’s top academic scholarship.
Daly led the Johnnies with a four-day total of 300 (+12) to tie for 29th overall at the 2009 NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Championship in Port St. Lucie, Fla. Saint John’s finished eighth out of 36 teams with a four-day total of 1201 (+49).
