Foley and Otis Earn Academic All-MIAC Honors

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. –Saint John's University freshmen Jimmy Foley (Moorhead, Minn.) and Jesse Otis (West Des Moines, Iowa/Dowling Catholic) earned 2008-09 Winter and Spring Academic All-MIAC honors June 25.

Foley claimed sixth in both the 200- and 1,650-yard freestyle, and seventh in the 500-yard freestyle. Foley was also a member of the Johnnies' 800-yard freestyle relay team that finished third. Foley is an economics and management double-major with a 4.0 GPA.

Otis finished sixth in both the 200-yard breaststroke and 400-yard individual medley, and eighth 200-yard individual medley. Otis is a management and environmental studies double-major with a 3.5 GPA.

Both Foley and Otis are sophomores academically.

The Johnnies finished fifth out of eight teams at the 2009 MIAC Swimming and Diving Championships.

Student-athletes must be a sophomore, junior or senior academically with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 on a 4.00 scale to qualify for Academic All-MIAC recognition. Athletically, swimming & diving student-athletes must qualify for the conference finals or place in the top three as a relay team to be eligible.
