ST. PAUL, Minn. – Saint John’s finished fifth out of 11 teams at the 2009 MIAC Championship on Saturday, Oct. 31, at Como Park in St. Paul. Hamline won the men’s race with 61 points, followed by St. Olaf (66), St. Thomas (82), Augsburg (97) and SJU (101).
Individually, Bethel senior Dan Greeno won the race with a time of 25:21. Senior Ian Bauer led Hamline with a second-place finish, 34 seconds behind Greeno. St. Thomas sophomore Ben Sathre was third, with St. Olaf’s Jacob Marotz in fourth, and Macalester’s Wade Ekstrom in fifth.

Dustin Franta (La Crescent, Minn.) and senior
Patrick Lowder (Chanhassen, Minn./Chaska) earned All-MIAC honors with a 10th- (26:25) and 14th-place finish (26:39), respectively.

David Forster (Minnetonka, Minn./Hopkins) finished 21st with a time of 27:01, while sophomore
Ruairi Moynihan (Fargo, N.D./South) claimed 25th (27:03). Senior
Ryan Noack (St. Cloud, Minn./Cathedral) took 31st (27:19) and sophomore
Jordan Fladland (Coon Rapids, Minn.) ended 45th (27:45). Noack was named to the All-MIAC Sportsmanship team. Senior
Andrew Stevens (Stillwater, Minn.) rounded out the Johnnies’ seven in 49th (27:53).
The Johnnies return to action Friday, Nov. 6, as they host the annual Saint John’s Fall Finale. The race is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at the Radio Tower Fields in Collegeville.
