Johnnies Set for MIAC Championship This Saturday

The Saint John’s cross country team returns to action this Saturday, Oct. 31, at the 2009 MIAC Championship. The men’s race is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Como Park in St. Paul. – Directions | MIAC Website

A LOOK AT THE JOHNNIES: Saint John’s tied for 15th out of 29 teams at the Wis.-La Crosse Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 17. The University of Wisconsin won the meet with 32 points, followed by Wis.-La Crosse (49) and South Dakota State (92). Junior Dustin Franta (La Crescent, Minn.) led the Johnnies with a time of 26:01, which was good for 41st overall. Senior Patrick Lowder (Chanhassen, Minn./Chaska) sophomore Ruairi Moynihan (Fargo, N.D./South) followed in 82nd (26:32) and 86th (26:35), respectively.
LAST YEAR’S MIAC CHAMPIONSHIP: Saint John’s finished fifth out of 11 teams at the 2008 MIAC Men's Cross Country Championship on Nov. 1 in St. Paul. Franta and senior Andrew Stevens (Stillwater, Minn.) came in 21st- (26:29) and 23rd-place (26:30), respectively. Senior Ryan Noack (St. Cloud, Minn./Cathedral) and Lowder finished 24th (26:31) and 30th (26:45), respectively. St. Olaf won the 2008 conference title behind sophomore Duboul Ruon’s first-place finish in 25:01. SJU did not have an individual runner place in the top 15 for the first time since 1966. - Results
